A Persistent Drive Going to Work for You

Howdy!

I’m just a plebeian truck driver who with my wife, Kelley, and two young kiddos (Carver, age 5, and Dakota, age 3) works hard everyday to care and provide for our family. I believe in putting God and family first in life and striving hard to make my life productive for the betterment of those I serve.

Because of my love for our country, I am patriotically loyal to our nation’s awesome founding principles. I think it is important to have good conservative common folks participate and be represented in Congress. After all, this country is mostly made-up of, driven by, and consisting of us “middle class” and lower income folks.

On the other hand, the U.S. Congress is almost entirely made up of people who are wealthy individuals. Many were wealthy before they were elected, while others have gained in wealth since. This is not particularly a bad thing… I hope for all to succeed and have prosperous, bountiful lives (assuming it’s all above-board and legal).

But I think it’s very healthy for those of us without wealth to have direct representation in Congress. Many current congressmen give great lip service to helping the common man. But once elected these individuals push or vote for policies and agendas that frequently serve to do more harm than good to the common man.

It can be tough when funds are short. Growing up, my father was a small church pastor or full-time Christian ministry worker. He has a big heart for helping people, but unfortunately these jobs by themselves usually didn’t pay enough to even put food on our table. He frequently had to get a second job or more to help our family make ends meet. We almost never had health insurance. However, he and my Mom did whatever they could to help us kids succeed. Mom taught me at an early age the value of hard work by helping my brother and I deliver newspapers and establish a lawn-mowing gig. Dad sacrificed a lot to help me pay my way to attend a Christian university for two years.

Now with a family of my own, I too understand why my Dad worked so hard and how it often takes hard work and dedication to make ends meet. I’ve grown accustomed to working 60 or more hours per week driving a truck and then coming home to do additional work running side gigs to earn enough to pay the bills. Often this is hard, but it would be more miserable to be stuck in a country where the government dictated what job I could or couldn’t do, and what income I earned. I’m grateful that we have the opportunities available to us in this country to work hard and build upon our work for a positive result.

However, I’ve noticed an increasing divide among our political elite and the voters they represent. It doesn’t seem like our conservative voice is being well heard to good effect among the sea of voices that make up our nation’s government. At every point, liberal politicians and un-elected bureaucrats are just around the corner ready to back-stab our efforts and tear apart any progress we make towards the principles of freedom and liberty that our country was founded upon.

If not stopped, these liberals and so-called progressives will succeed in their efforts to turn our awesome republic into ever more of a socialistic country. Every year some new law is passed or proposed that would strip away another one or more of our precious freedoms and liberties. We must be ever vigilant to ensure that today’s temptations don’t strip from us the freedoms of tomorrow.

Unfortunately congress is so busy stripping away our liberties and attacking each other, they completely ignore doing those things that only government can and actually should be doing… those things we actually pay them our taxes to do… such as stopping illegal immigration, protecting our borders, ensuring roads and other necessary infrastructure is well maintained, cracking down on trafficking, stopping overspending, and more.

While I was a kid, Dad and Mom lived out the importance of voting. While homeschooling us kids, Mom showed us by example how to write letters to elected officials, and had us watch the elections as part of our training. Although they were not highly involved politically, I learned from them that participating in government is important. As a young adult, I began attending local Republican Party meetings, and from there I’ve continued to study and grow and further my interest in seeing the principles used by our founding fathers to create this country continue to guide and lead us into the future.

Now I’m a full-blown constitutionalist conservative. For entertainment I’m often watching Laura Ingraham or The Five on Fox News, or listening to Mark Levin or Rush Limbaugh on the radio. I believe that the best way for us to get out of debt, get a better job, ensure our kids/grandkids safety, education, and success, and protect our country… the answer is definitely not for more government regulations or intervention. Rather, we actually need the exact opposite: for government to get out of our way so that we are less encumbered to pursue better opportunities and let our hard work and merit stand on their own success.

Or in other words, Unleash Freedom!

We must prevent the liberals from succeeding with their efforts to pass more regulations while giving us more corruption and more freedom-stealing burdens. Will you join me in this effort? Let’s ensure freedom prevails!
